We
have felt so much support this past week from our friends and family. Last Sunday, the young single adult ward
where we have been serving and our home ward held a special fast on our behalf. In our home ward, Bishop Bradshaw called the
ward together after church and invited everyone to kneel in prayer to break the
fast. We have been buoyed up with
strength and clarity in making decisions about treatment.
Today
we met with the Huntsman Cancer Institute to discuss treatment options offered
there. As the Dr. presented the options,
we had almost immediate clarity on how we should move forward. They proposed that we participate in one of
their clinical trials. It appears that Rick
meets all the qualifications but needs to do a few preliminary tests for
verification. That should happen over
the next few days. We feel very
confident about the staff there and the proposed direction. Huntsman provided a great team that included
doctors, nurses, social workers, dieticians and technologists, that made us
feel very comfortable with their team.
It was also great to have Tanner along to help us validate the things we
were feeling about the direction. He
took wonderful notes and was a great strength to us.
We
look forward to getting started on treatment.
We appreciate so much the continued thoughts and prayers. We feel the Lord’s hand guiding us along this
journey and have already seen so many tender mercies that are a result of the
many prayers on our behalf.
Love you Rick. Good Luck my dear friend. Bishop Grant Stucki YSA Ward
ReplyDeleteLots of prayers coming your way. We appreciate the updates.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see an update! What a relief that you live so close to the Huntsman center! And to feel peace about which direction to take is such a blessing in this whole crazy scenario! And hello, can we just take a time out and reel over how tall and old Tanner is?! I can't believe he is a grown adult. I still see him as a little kid! 😂 But really, how great that he was able to come to your appt, take notes, and be apart of the equation. Hope it's been a great time with that darling Whit and her crew there! So glad they could make it out! Sending continued prayers and love your way. Lots and lots of Love, melis
